Some photos...

Not much new to report. We began our first day of orientation today, which cleared a few things up and I (of course) am feeling better and happier. =). The streets have finally dried up from the flooding over the past few days, which makes walking around much better and more pleasant. It's a pity about the unbearable heat! But, I am hanging in there - and those who know me know that the heat is my biggest enemy here! That being said, it's amazing how much more you can handle when you have no other option. A home in our cozy little Pittsburgh apartment, I would have turned on the A/C, taken off all unnecessary clothes (and some necessary ones), and been bitching up a storm about 20 degrees ago. Once you know you have no option but to deal with it you miraculously gain the mental ability to convince yourself that you 're really not that hot.

Here are some photos to hold you over until I have some actual news to report:

A house (not mine).

A woman laying/sleeping? on the sidewalk of a main road.

Right outside our homestay. And yes, cows here just wander the streets (including highways) during the day, and home to their respective owners in the evenings of their own accord.

Enjoy your luxury folks, because I am.

  1. Amazing photos...imagine how neat they would be with your good camera! Are there going to be people you now on the bus trip to Dharamsala with you? Glad to hear you picked up the Amex card..have you tracked down the parcel yet? Interesting comments about the heat but I know what you mean...what are the temp's? Everything sounds amazing Kris, relish the experience...rain and heat, good and bad, monkeys and cows, oglers and crowds! Looking forward to more photos and stories...I went to Haandi twice last Saturday in your honor, once with Seana and once with Josh! See you in NZ for fish 'n chips!
